Drifting Leaves
Flowers Hospital, Dothan, AL
Stainless steel
Commissioned by Flowers Hospital
Suspended within the four-storey atrium entry of Flowers Hospital, Drifting Leaves captures the quiet elegance of foliage in motion. Hand-fabricated in stainless steel, the layered leaf forms appear to float in open space, their brushed surfaces reflecting and refracting the natural light streaming through the surrounding glass. Visible from multiple floors and vantage points, the sculpture creates a sense of upward flow and airy movement, connecting the architecture’s vertical openness with the graceful rhythms of nature.
Suspended stainless steel leaves animate the atrium with shifting light.
Floating forms create a sense of upward flow and airy movement.
From above, the arrangement becomes a choreography of light and form.
Each leaf is finished with hand-applied brushstrokes on stainless steel, bringing the artist’s hand directly into the surface.
